About Hotel Meghdoot

Ranikhet, or ‘Queen’s Meadow’, as the literal translation goes, is a quintessential Himalayan township in the Kumaun region of Uttarakahand Himalayas.

Perched at an average altitude of 1750 meters above sea level, the town is steeped in colonial lore, its winding roads, dense canopy and old bungalows bearing testimony to the extravaganzas of a British summer retreat.

Hotel Meghdoot, located in Upper Mall Road ridge, is nestled comfortably away from the Hustle bustle of the market, offering that splendid riot of colours that is the sunset on one end, and breathtaking Himalayan panoramas on the other.

A heritage building that is surrounded by numerous bungalows and a small market that is a true microcosm of simple subsistence of the mountain folk.

Located enroute Chaubatia, one of the highest ridges of the region, it is surrounded by a thick mixed forests. One can witness rhododendrons in full bloom during the summers, and the region is a paradise for birdwatchers. On a lucky day one can spot jackals, jungle fowls, wild boar, or even the elusive spotted cat.

The region experiences a semi humid to alpine type climate. Weather is pleasant from March and winters can get bitterly cold.
